Born in Australia, Eana Jeans is best known for her watercolours of native New Zealand bush, particularly around the Leith Valley where her family settled upon their arrival in New Zealand in 1894.

The daughter of artist Blanda Jeans (1857 – 1911), Eana studied at the Dunedin School of Art and the Barn Studio, Dunedin, along with A. H. O’Keeffe and Mabel Hill. During a stay in England in the early 1930s Eana continued her studies at the Slade School of Art in London. She exhibited her work both in London and Paris during this period.

Eana Blythe Jeans was made an honorary life member of the Otago Art Society, and her works are held in both private and public collections in New Zealand, such as the Hocken Collection.
